N-Seal Secondary Containment AdaptorNO PACKING, NO LEAKS, NO FUSS.
Our Patented Secondary Containment Technology is also available in the adaptor series. This product line was developed to improve existing gas drive pumps commonly used for chemical injection applications. MCI introduced the first alternative to traditional packing. N-Seal is a simple universal adaptor that requires no adjustments and greatly reduces routine maintenance.
By eliminating packing and introducing dependable spring energized seal technology MCI Solutions has developed the industry’s first leak containment solution for chemical injection applications. Any chemical that bypasses the high-pressure seal is re-directed to the suction side of the pump eliminating costly leaks to the environment.
Our technology reduces plunger friction by 90% when compared to traditional packing technology. This results in a 50% reduction in drive gas consumption.

The adaptor series is designed to mount on most existing gas drive pumps with no changes to existing equipment.
Features and Benefits:
- ANY CHEMICAL THAT BYPASSES THE HIGH PRESSURE SEAL IS RETURNED BACK TO THE SUCTION SIDE OF THE PUMP, THERE ARE NO LEAKS TO THE OUTSIDE ENVIRONMENT.
- ELIMINATES THE USE OF PACKING WHICH GREATLY REDUCES THE SYSTEMS FRICTION. THE RESULT IS GREATER RELIABILITY WITH LESS MAINTENANCE.
- EMISSIONS ARE GREATLY REDUCED, BY UP TO 50%.
- NO ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED THROUGHOUT THE LIFE OF THE SEAL.
- ELIMINATES STALLING DUE TO FRICTION CAUSED BY AN OVERTIGHTENED GLAND NUT.
- DESIGNED TO MOUNT ON ALL 5100 SERIES PUMPS WITH NO MODIFICATIONS TO ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT.
- ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED.
- LONG LASTING SEAL DESIGN TECHNOLOGY.
- INCREASED ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE.
- CARTRIDGE STYLE REPLACEMENT SEAL KIT ALLOWS FOR QUICK CHANGE OUT WITH NO ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED.
ADAPTOR SEAL TECHNOLOGY
N-Seal adaptors replace conventional packing by utilizing exclusive patented secondary containment technology – eliminating all uncontained leaks and reducing the systems internal loss due to excess friction. This results in significantly reduced drive gas requirements when compared with traditional packing.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
SC5100
Designed for use on 5100 Series Gas drive injection pumps or comparable systems that use a 6.0 inch plunger length.
REPLACEMENT SEAL ASSEMBLIES
Replacement seal assemblies are available in several different configurations for maximum flexibility; each adaptor body can suit plungers from ¼ to ½” diameters simply replacing the cartridge style seal assembly. This ensures maximum compatibility for future demands. The replacement seal assembly allows for the quick replacement of worn seals with no set-up or maintenance adjustments ever required. Unlike traditional packing that requires constant adjusting.
MCI Solutions seal assembly kits are quick and simple to replace. A complete assembly kit includes everything you need, new seal glands, spring energized seals, o-rings, and plunger (if necessary). [As shown below]|

There are several sizing options available. We have provided a seal assembly part number configuration key to assist the ordering process for new or replacement seal assemblies and adaptor bodies.

ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCEThe N-Seal secondary containment adaptor technology offers tremendous economic and environmental performance in the convenience of one package. Whether you are interested in a quick return on investment or reducing emissions by as much as 50% our exclusive technology offers just that.
Reduced Drive Gas Requirements
This graph demonstrates the reduction of drive gas requirements using our adaptor vs. traditional packing on an existing 5100 series gas drive chemical injection system. N-Seal can reduce drive Gas requirements by up to 50%. Other major benefits include no costly uncontained leaks and greatly reduced maintenance schedules when compared to existing packing technology.

ANNUAL COST SAVINGS POTENTIAL
| Savings Potential For Secondary Containment
Adaptors |
Annual Savings in CAD$ |
|
1. Drive Gas
Reductions |
A 5100 style gas-drive pump may use as much as 1.0 mmcf per year. The N-Seal technology reduces friction on the suction stroke by as much as 90%. This reduced friction will reduce the required volume of drive gas by as much as 50%.
Estimated Savings: $2,500.00 per year |
|
2. Reduced
Chemical Losses |
Packing seals will allow upwards of 50 litres of chemical to escape, when adjusted properly. Normal wear/use will allow substantially more to escape as “leakage”. An estimated average annual loss of 100 litres per year is considered conservative. The N-Seal system will reduce such losses to near zero.
Estimated Savings: $500.00 per year |
|
3. Lower Stroke
Rate |
Because friction is substantially reduced, the stroke rates can be set lower without “stalling” the pump. Operators no longer have to set the stroke rate higher than necessary to try and prevent their pumps from stalling as environmental conditions vary. Setting the stroke lower will save at least 1 litre of chemical per day. Chemical prices vary widely from $1 per litre of methanol up to $20 per litre for certain special production chemicals.
Estimated Savings: $600.00 per year
|
|
4. Reduced
Maintenance and Servicing Costs |
An operator typically spends upwards of 30 minutes each week, checking, adjusting, cleaning up, maintaining, repairing and replacing chemical injection pumps. The N-Seal system will reduce this time by more than 50% due to the reliability of the device.
Estimated Savings: $500.00 per year
|
|
5. Reduced
Waste Chemical Disposal Costs |
The average cost of reclamation of a gas well lease has risen beyond $100,000.00. The major contributor to pollution is chemical spills and injection pump leakage on the average gas well today. The containment system with the N-Seal technology will reduce exposure substantially.
Estimated Savings: $1000.00 per year
(10 year lease life)

* Savings will be substantially higher if propane or some other "sweet media" is used at sour sites. The cost of chemicals can range up to $20 per litre but, for the purpose of the high end of the range, $5.00 per litre was considered appropriate. |
